This site tells the story of Karrek-Ven,
a classic 1943 tuna fishing boat from Brittany.

around the globe, get to know the crew, learn about our research and the upcoming restoration of the boat.

Karrek Ven is an old tuna fishing vessel converted in 1980 as a training boat offering a different way of learning for youth. Non-denominational, it is open to individuals of any race and country over the age of 15.
The research conducted onboard along with the group life and the joys and travails of sailing a classic 65 foot, 80 ton work boat to exotic countries and cultures are the foundation of this learning experience.

The restoration work of Karrek Ven will be done the way she was originally built, by the team of a Venezuelan shipyard, under the guidance of her crew and some of the former youths who once lived on her.
